Game has an indefinite blank white screen when alt-tabbed

Whenever I'm playing I'll switch between YouTube and the game and I've noticed that after I've done this a few times (and load back into the game) it will have a blank white screen and I have to force close the game because it won't load. I was using full screen when this happened, but have since switched to windowed mode in hopes that this no longer happens.

    Try playing in "windowed fullscreen" to avoid this. Some older games respond badly when the user alt-tabs out in fullscreen mode.

    Is the Sims 4 considered an old game now???? And yeah I've been playing in windowed ever since just thought that it might be a bug since it only started doing that recently after I updated my game...

    @jasmineve99  Sims 4 was released in 2014, so yes, it's an older game by current standards.  It's being updated, sure, but it also still uses resources (e.g. DirectX 9) that predate it and don't necessarily support the way someone might use a modern computer.
