Game keeps crashing at loading screen

Hi guys, as the title says, every time I open up the game, it crashes right after showing the game title. I've been trying a few solution provided but still am unable to get it load.

What I've done so far:

  • Uninstall and reinstall both sims4 and EA
  • Downloaded Nivida game driver, tried to run sims4 from there
  • Didnt install anything related to razer, i dont know where to find RazerChroma in my files

Really appreciate your help on this as i'm not very tech savvy! Thank you all in advance!

My Dxdiag as attached.

  • thepandabot  Thanks for the dxdiag.  You don't actually have the newest Nvidia driver installed—the one your dxdiag lists is from 2022.  So please try again to install it: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator" to be thorough.  If you get an error when trying to install it, let me know.

If that doesn't help, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash, specifically after installing the newest driver.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

  • thepandabot  Neither of the apps listed should be causing a Sims 4 crash, but it's certainly possible.  So to deal with these and any other software that might be interfering, please try playing in a clean boot:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.

If the game doesn't work in a clean boot, please try again, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi and/or disconnect the ethernet cable before pressing Play.

puzzlezaddict hey, thank you so much for your help. I think i tried all the ways that i've read and the ones you shared, but it still crashes at the title page. Think i'm giving up hope to play this game ever again, maybe until i get a new computer. But appreciate your help on this. Wish you a happy new year!

  • thepandabot  Would you still like help?  If so, I'd like to see a crash dump from the game.  Click Windows key-R and copy and paste this:

    %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps

When you enter, you'll see a list of .dmp files.  If one of them is from Sims 4 or the EA App, please upload it to a third-party filehosting site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it here.  If you see a crash dump that was written at exactly the time the game crashed, I'd like that too.  But in either case, please only upload files from after we started troubleshooting here.
