Game is constantly crashing

Hi, I have not been able to play my savefile for about a week now because when I try to load any household, build or cas the game crashes straight away. I have taken all mods out and it still crashes. I have also repaired the game, created a new saves folder, tried other previous saves etc and it just crashes. I have attatched my DxDiag. It crashes on any household and i try to play and i cant even enter a build lot from the world map. The game loads to the world map but then crashes when i try to do anything else.

If that's not the issue, open Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings, and if you see Sims 4 on the list, select the high-performance option.  Do this for both TS4_x64 and TS4_DX9_x64.  If Sims 4 is not on the list, that means you haven't set custom options for it, which should mean it's using the Nvidia graphics card, so you can skip this step for now.

The other place to look is in the Nvidia Control Panel.  Right-click the desktop, select the CP, choose Manage 3D Settings > Program settings, find ts4_x64 on the list, and make sure the high-performance graphics option is selected (near the top).  Do the same for ts4_dx9_x64.

To switch to DirectX 11 mode, open the game, select Options > Graphics Options, and uncheck the DirectX 9 box in the lower-right area.  If you don't see it there, you might have forced DX9 mode in the EA App or Steam.  In the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and if you see -dx9 in the box, delete that and save.  In Steam, the setting is under Sims 4 > Properties > General > Launch Options.

hi, i dont know how to tell the game how to undo the iGPU if i have done that, please can you help? also how do i switch to direct x11 mode? i play my laptop while charged most of the time.

  • violetstyles11  Have you told Sims 4 to run on the integrated graphics chip rather than the RTX 3050?  I ask because some of the Sims 4 crashes in your dxdiag point to the Intel graphics driver, but the iGPU and its driver shouldn't be involved in rendering the game.  If you have selected the iGPU, please undo that change.  If you don't know whether you have or how to undo it, just ask.

You're currently running the game in DirectX 9 mode, so you'll want to apply any changes to TS4_DX9_x64, but also TS4_x64 if you want to use DirectX 11 mode at some point.

Aside from that, are you trying to play while the laptop is running on battery?  That could cause the laptop to auto-select the iGPU to preserve battery life.
