Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 Unable to Start, Game Data Missing or Damaged

I have not had a chance to play since February and finally had some time to play. But after the new patch or update today, I am receiving the error message that the files are damaged or missing, and I must remove mods, and try repairing or reinstalling from origin. I have already tried to repair the game with my add-on packs, and that did not work. I tried uninstalling game from EA app and then reinstalling, and this also didn't help. Then I read somewhere about backing up your data, by making a copy of your files so that you can delete the game and then reinstall. But when I try to make a copy of my saved games, I receive an error that says "unable to copy content, the cloud file provider is not running." Now I am concerned about losing all of my data and don't want to delete anything, but I also don't know how to repair my game. I will also add that I do not have any mods at all in my game, I have not downloaded any mods, the content used is completely original from the game and is not altered in any way.

  • cscandy  For the "game data missing or damaged" error, please see the first post of this master thread:

The message about the cloud provider not running refers to OneDrive.  But the files should be stored locally.  Even if they're not, you should be able to retrieve them from onedrive.com, either in My Files or the Recycle Bin.  Or you can simply restart your computer and see whether the error clears up.

To repair the game in the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > Repair.  In Steam, click Sims 4 > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of the game files.
