Game keeps flickering then white screening

Game comes on and loads fine but as soon as  I try to play it freezes, flicker like its about to crash then pops back up. It does this a few times then it flickers one last time and turns white. I can hear the music and the sound of clicking on stuff but I can't do anything but exit out through ctrl+alt+delete. Ive:

-took out all my mods and CC

-verified my files through Steam

-un/reinstalled the game

-tried to see if was my window update installed wrong

It still glitches out

  • letsgolezzies  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows a number of crashes of the graphics driver.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Use the most recent driver Dell provides for your laptop, the Intel driver under Video:

    https://www.dell.com/support/product-details/en-us/product/inspiron-15-3520-laptop/drivers

Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

Please test with your Mods folder still removed.  If it doesn't help, please post a new dxdiag.

I followed the page, did everything, and when it was done, tried to play without mods and the game was still doing the same thing

  • letsgolezzies  Did you uninstall and reinstall the driver while your computer was offline?  I ask because the driver you have installed is newer than the one Dell provides, and Windows shouldn't have updated with the Dell driver in place, but it would have certainly done so had it detected that no driver was installed at all.  That could only happen while you were online, of course.  It's also possible that Windows installed this driver anyway despite your having a suitable one in place, which is why I'm wondering.

At any rate, your dxdiag shows new crashes of the graphics driver, unfortunately, so please go through the process again; hopefully the Dell driver will stick this time.  It often doesn't matter which driver you install, but in this case, the newer driver is clearly not functioning the way it should, so the best alternative is to try the only slightly older one from Dell.

Ok, so after many trials and errors, I realized I didn't download the actual drive, just the helper.  Downloaded the right thing and play tested it without and with mods and the flickering slowed down tremendously. The day before yesterday it only happened twice and yesterday only once.

  • letsgolezzies  This dxdiag shows a couple of older crashes of the graphics driver, but they might be left over from before you reinstalled the driver.  (These errors don't have timestamps.)  And the newer errors have to do with the EA App and Windows updates, so it looks like the driver issue is cleared up.

Are you playing with the laptop plugged in?  If not, please try that and let me know whether you see any flickering going forward.  If you do see more flickering, I'd be curious to know whether there's any pattern to it, for example when you're doing something specific in-game or when you've recently alt-tabbed to another application and back.
