game keeps lagging

 I dont really have much of free space on my pc to install the latest update so I decided to move the folder of The Sims 4 from SSD to another disc and it didn't work, so I tried to undo it. Apparent...

    @mikulean001  I'd suggest setting additional exceptions in Avast: TS4_DX9_x64 and TS4_Launcher_x64, or the Bin folder they're in; and EADesktop.exe.  TS4.exe was the 32-bit executable and is no longer used.

    For the EA App, if you can't get it to work, uninstall it with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and reinstall, then set an exception in Avast for EADesktop.exe.  If Revo can't find it, download the installer and run it, which will either work as normal or will offer you the option to repair the existing install.  Choose that, and if the App still doesn't work, then you can remove it with Revo and try a fresh install.

Game runs ok without mods. I've been putting them back to the game files one by one and there haven't been any problems yet. However there has been an another issue - when I want to enable mods and scripts in the game settings, the window won't close and I have to turn off the computer by pressing ctrl, alt and delete buttons and the settings don't apply. I deleted the options.ini file but it doesn't work.

I don't have free space on my SSD (C🙂 drive, so I tried to move the game to (D🙂 drive (which is internal) by going through the settings on EA app and changing file & installation location to the (D🙂 drive. It didn't work, all my sims were gone and I kinda freaked out, then I saw that the game generated The Sims 4 folder back in the SSD drive where it was located before. I had a copy of Mods, Saves and Tray so I put it there since these folders were empty. Then I installed the latest update and the settings issue appeared.

I'll try to do the dxdiag tomorrow. Hope I described the problem understandably since I'm kinda technically handicapped☹️(( idk what to do anymore

@mikulean001  Moving the game's install location is fine, but that refers to an entirely separate set of files (the program files), not the saves and other user data.  If you want the user folder on a different drive, you'll need to use a symbolic link:

If you have any trouble with this, please post the location where you want the user folder as well as the result you get in Command Prompt when you run the command.

The user folder can be almost anywhere, but NOT in the same location as the program files.  Just make a separate folder for one of them and you'll be fine.

For the issue enabling mods, try putting the game into windowed mode first.  If you can't do that either, edit the new Options.ini to set fullscreen to 0 (zero).  You can also enable mods directly by setting scriptmodsenabled to 1.

    thanks a lot!! I'll try to move the folder later bc now when I enabled mods directly in the options.ini something has happened to my ea app and it won't launch. I also changed the settings of my antivirus (Avast) and made exceptions for TS4.exe and TS4_x64.exe since I've heard that it can also be an issue. I'll try to restart the computer and see what happens. Idk what messed up my game files but the situation keeps getting worse lol
