Game Not Loading Menu After Update May 2026

I took a couple months break from playing the game and when I came back, it was time for an update. So I downloaded the update, and now the game launches and shows the regular loading screen, then turns black  with the in-game cursor and will not do anything else. I’ve cleared all the caches, repaired the game in the EA App, deleted all mods, even uninstalled and reinstalled just the base game and nothing has changed. I have almost 10,000 hours in this game, please help!

PC, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s an issue with my laptop and not the game.  I’ve had an issue similar to this before and it resolved itself but it wiped all of my saves

Every time i try to post the DxDiag, I'll copy it from the file, paste it into the reply box, and hit reply but it's not showing up as a posted reply

  • babyghost2319  Don't copy and paste the text; attach the entire file to your post.  Click the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons and choose the file, and it should work.

  • babyghost2319  Your dxdiag is full of generic system errors, nothing related to Sims 4.  So please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Click Windows key-X and select "Powershell (Administrator)" or "Windows Terminal (Administrator)" , whichever you see
    • In the window that appears, copy and paste "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" without quotes, and enter
    • The system will take a little while to validate; if it throws an error, please list it
    • Otherwise, copy and paste "sfc /scannow" without quotes into the window, and enter
    • Post the message you receive

Restart your computer, open Windows Settings > Update & Security, click the box to check for updates, and if any install, restart again afterwards.

For the game issue, the cause might be your computer's relatively small page file.  This is where the processor stores data that would normally be in RAM but doesn't fit.  Your laptop only has 8 GB installed memory, 2 GB of which is reserved for the graphics chip, so the page file would be heavily utilized.  Point is, please increase the size.  Here's how (option three):

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/manage-virtual-memory-paging-file-in-windows-11.8618/#Three

Set the minimum to 12288 and the maximum to 16384, and restart the computer.
