Game Not Recognizing Graphics Card

Hello,

The startup screen had an orange screen and blue or brown film over everything in the game, I did all the things, but nothing helped so last resort was to remove and reinstall. Still have orange screen and now I got a pop-up saying the game doesn't recognize my graphics card. I did do the localthumbcache delete, repair, and removing The Sims folder in Documents stuff again, still did not work. I saw on here there's a fix, but don't know how to do that. Please help. Thanks.

  • cfbce7cdec908109  The unrecognized graphics card isn't a problem you need to address.  The game's database is simply behind, sometimes by over a year, in adding new GPU device IDs.  And it shouldn't cause any kind of discoloration or overlay.

Please post a screenshot of what you see so I can get a better idea of what's happening.  If the laptop is in night mode or using some other eye strain-preventing measure, or different colors for accessibility reasons, please disable that feature.  And if that doesn't help, try playing in windowed mode.  You'd need to quit and reload to get the full effect.

  • This is my third time installing The Sims 4 on this laptop and the first time I received the unrecognized video card message.

Looking like it's a MODs or CC issue; after putting back my MODs and CC, I'm now getting strobing light and some of my Sims are very dark.

I did update my MODs, but that didn't help. Just to note, I think it was a Reshade issue originally, so I didn't reinstall it after reinstalling the game, but the orange screen issue persisted. I've now removed the Sims folder and all MODs and CC again, and everything seems fixed. I'm still posting the pics in case there's a specific MOD that might be causing the problem.
