Game not saving, no error code

I'm able to select a save from file select and play it without issue, but upon saving "successfully", quitting to menu, and trying to reload the save, the game returns to the state it was in when this issue started. Saves aren't disappearing as the pinned thread describes. I don't get an error code indicating that the game failed to save, but it definitely is failing to do so. I have tried the following things:

  • Restarting computer
  • Making sure I'm on the latest version of the Sims 4
  • Repairing game in Origin
  • Removing mods and deleting cache
  • Disabling OneDrive sync (it has been disabled for a long time, to be fair)
  • Moving default Documents folder out of the OneDrive folder into its parent via regedit

I'm not sure what else to do at this point, because looking through older threads the advice I'd seen was to disable OneDrive sync, and it's been disabled for three years. I have double and triple checked that it is not syncing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • @Blossom133  Please start a new save, for comparison's sake, and let me know whether you can save your progress there.

Please also let me know what antivirus you use.

I was able to start a new save and it shows up in the save file select, but I get this error (attached) when trying to load the save. I did peek into live mode to see if I could still technically play and it seems to be working normally, but I'd rather not consistently get an error if it will cause future problems. I use Malwarebytes and Windows Defender.
