Game shuts down

Hello, I need some help. My Sims 4 game keeps crashing constantly. The screen goes black and it's impossible to play. Everything was working fine in January, but these issues started in early February. Sorry if this isn't perfectly clear, I am using a translator.

  • Oumie-x  You're probably still getting BlueScreens, but the system is shutting down too quickly for you to catch the error codes.  What was the boot error that was fixed?  It's possible it's not entirely fixed, as in, it's still affecting your system, just in a slightly less drastic way.

It's strange though that you're not getting logs from the game crashing, or at least that the Reliability Monitor isn't picking them up.  Let's see if we can find this info another way.  Click Windows key-R and copy and paste this:

    %LocalAppData%\CrashDumps

When you enter, you'll see a list of .dmp files.  If one of them is from Sims 4 or the EA App, please upload it to a third-party filehosting site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it here.  If you see a crash dump that was written at exactly the time the game crashed, I'd like that too.  But in either case, please only upload a new file, as in, one associated with the last crash you had or the next one.

If there is no Sims 4 .dmp file, you can enable them:

    • Hit the Windows key, type "command prompt" in the box, right-click on Command Prompt in the search results, and select Run as Administrator
    • In the window, paste "reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\devenv.exe" /v DumpType /d 2 /t REG_DWORD" without the outside quotes into the box, and enter
    • Launch Sims 4 and wait for it to crash (whether you can play at all or not)
    • After it crashes, wait for any crash dialogs to finish
    • Then hit Windows key-R and paste "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps" without quotes into the box, and enter
    • Upload the last .dmp file to a free filesharing site and link it here
    • When you want to undo the auto crash log dumps, open Command Prompt as before, paste "reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps" /f" without the outside quotes, and enter.

Hi, thanks for the help. I was getting Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) errors before, but now my PC just completely shuts down without any warning or black screen.

This all started after a boot error that prevented my computer from starting up. It has been repaired since then, but The Sims 4 hasn't worked properly ever since. The crashes mostly happen in Build Mode. In Live Mode, the game stays stable much longer.

The only thing I found in the Reliability Monitor is this: L’arrêt système précédant à 17:26:32 le ‎2026-‎02-‎12 n’était pas prévu.

  • Oumie-x  Are you getting a BlueScreen or other shutdown while you play?  I ask because your dxdiag is full of BSODs, so much so that most other errors were crowded out.  And there are three different BSOD codes, although the same three repeated twice.

If this isn't happening while you play, please trigger the Sims 4 issue again, then look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Click Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent Sims 4 crash.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
