Same here.
99annamarie MISSNASHA Please remove your Mods folder and test again. You don't need to save your progress.
If that doesn't help, try a different household within the same save, and also a different save for comparison's sake. The question is whether the save is the issue or the game in general.
If at least the different save is fine, please open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete any lastexception files you see. Try again to load your main household in your main save, and if it gets stuck loading, look for a new lastexception. If you find one, open it and copy the text, then paste it into a reply here. Please only provide a LE that was generated with your Mods folder removed.

I've completed every step. I'm still stuck on the infinite screen. 🙄
- dewcorvette29 days agoSeasoned Novice
This same exact thing is happening to me. I'll follow the steps listed and report back if it works. I just updated today. Before I opened the game or even updated, I updated the mods (I only have UI Cheats by weerbesu and MCCC) and the game so seems more likely that it would be an issue with the update??
- dewcorvette29 days agoSeasoned Novice
I followed all the steps and I was able to get into a new save and play a new household/pre-made household in the new save. When going back to my previous save and household I am still stuck on the loading screen. And no last exception files have popped up. Would this mean the save is corrupt?

I'm not sure if this would apply to your game - but I'll repost a reply I made to a similar thread:
The same thing happened with my game, I made sure my all my mods were updated - but I removed them prior to loading the game after the update. My played households would not load - but the unplayed households were fine. I did more research and found someone say if you use custom food cc, there may be a plate stuck somewhere on the lot that would prohibit the lot to load. So I put my mods back in the game - and it worked! I was able to load my households again. So if you use custom food cc - place them back in your mods folder and reload the game. Hopefully that will work.
MISSNASHA Then I would like to see a lastexception, as described.
dewcorvette Can you load a different household within the same affected save? Can you move your main household to a different lot and load them there?
- dewcorvette28 days agoSeasoned Novice
I'm going to try that when I log back in in a few hours and I'll report back
- MISSNASHA28 days agoNew Scout
I 'don't have any last exception.
MISSNASHA Then try loading a different household in the same save. If that works, try moving your main household to a different lot and see whether you can play them.

Same here.

Tried both and still no. There are no mods in it. Cleared cache, repaired game, still no luck. There are no last exception files popping up either.

I am able to get into build mode from the world map at least but that's it for this save.
- dewcorvette28 days agoSeasoned Novice
Tried again after going to just build mode and back to world map and then back into my household and it worked!! So far!!
dewcorvette Would you be willing to share an affected save with me? I would only pass it on to EA/Maxis (if they wanted it) and/or to the other helpers who test saves (if they were interested). I don't know whether your saves are fixable, but it would at least be interesting to look.
If you'd like to share, upload the saves to a third-party filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and either post the link here or send it to me via PM. If you use Google Drive, make sure to choose the option that "anyone with the link" can view the upload.
And just to take a wild swing, how many lot traits are assigned to these lots? You can check in Build mode. A few months ago, there was a major problem with loading saves where the lots had excessive and/or inappropriate traits assigned to them.
- dewcorvette28 days agoSeasoned Novice
it's back to not working again :( it has only 3 lot traits and none are from any mods or CC. Yes to sending my save, I'll have to do that later tonight or tomorrow!

So after the update it now took 5 minutes for me to load any of the households.
But i tried a new game and it didn't have the issue.
It seems its because they changed the family tree and extended the family tag.
This means my multi generation save with a big family tree became an absolute mess, not to mention it forcibly removed marriages from anyone who was now considered family, causing even more mess.
So if your family had a huge tree or many generations, it might be the reason you can't load the file. - MISSNASHA28 days agoNew Scout
I think it was one of my save files. If I want the screen to stop loading, I have to create another save file.
It's sad that I can't play with the others anymore.
700 hours of gameplay... RIP

I went to search for the change you mentioned in the family tree. That makes sense, I have tons and tons of large families and many generations! Wonder if we'll ever be able to get back in it! 🤔

Seeing the same here - game world with probably 2500 hours in it. Doesn't load with mods enabled, doesn't load with mods removed entirely with cache files cleared. No LE's being generated.
Even pulled random backups from 2023 and 2021 and they won't load either. If I grabbed one for 2019 with very low family tree complexity, it DOES load.
I CAN get into the build tools and can access CAS to save everything and bring it over to a fresh game.

Since I had tons and tons of generations and family in my "other households" I deleted MOST of those (mostly kept only my sims kids) and the household loaded - just took a few minutes longer than usual. I exited without saving so I can try this again. I plan to just see if it takes longer to load because it's adjusting the tree. I will report back. If that doesn't work then maybe the solution would be too delete most of your sims (once you save to gallery which ones you'd like to save) or start over.

I know it isn't from mods or CC but this is testing without any and even so, I only use two mods - MCCC and UI Cheats by weerbesu.
After reading some info from other people on it probably being the family tree and generations and knowing I have TONS AND TONS of family spanning a handful of generations, I decided to test this.
First I deleted every single family in "other households" and only kept my sim and her kids.
It loaded within 5 min (which is longer than usual).
I exited the game completely without saving and reloaded.
This time I wanted to see if maybe it just needed extra time to load for the family tree to adjust maybe. It worked and loaded in 20 minutes.
That's a ridiculous amount of time so I exited back to world map without saving and tried again since it loaded the first time.
Second time took 10 minutes.
I don't want to wait that long every time, unfortunately, so I went back to the world map without saving and deleted tons of families, but I did keep a good amount and a lot of the usual ones (Spencer-Kim, Goths, Landgraabs, etc.) and some of the ones that I've created. If I knew their lineage was not too interconnected, I kept them.
Went back to my household and this time loading took 3 minutes.
So it seems it's either get through the long loading screens or delete some or/all other families besides your current played households/family. Or start over.

99annamarie MISSNASHA dewcorvette Talesin23 TheSandman21 If any of you would like to share your affected save(s), I would love to have a look at them. I would share them with Maxis, if anyone there is interested, and with another helper here who tests saves, if she's interested, but no one else.
If you're willing, please upload your save(s) to a third-party filesharing site (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and either post the link here or send it to me via PM. If you use Google Drive, make sure "anyone with the link" can view the download. Saves are stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves, and you can sort by date modified to tell them apart.

There seems to be a problem with games that have large family trees. It is something that I have noticed with the error reports. Considering that there has been a major update to family trees it might be worth someone looking at that rather than pointing the finger at Custom content, again.
