game version file not updating to latest version
Hi All,
When trying to get some of my mods to work, they are trying to read my game version.txt file, I have updated sims4 to the most up to date version v1.108.349.1020 and shows this in my uninstaller tool under a column for file version. however the game version file will not update from v1.97.62.1020
A few things i have tried is:
-Reinstalling both game and EA app
-White listing all EA paths described on other posts for my anti-virus app
-Deleting game version file (expecting it to be regenerated on launch of a sim save, this never happened and i had to undelete it)
-Clearing EA app cache
-Repairing sims 4 application using EA app
-Manually changing contents of the game version itself (then replaced it with an unedited version because it didn't work. For reference it is encoded text)
-I have never had a problem before and before the reinstall i have never moved the game or EA application to a different location
I'm running out of ideas, could anyone help?
@PeekABooXP The GameVersion.txt file should have regenerated after you deleted it. The fact that it didn't means either you're looking in the wrong folder, i.e. not the one Sims 4 is actually reading, or that your antivirus blocked the file from being written. So please search your computer for another copy of GameVersion and see if you can find one.
If that's not the issue, please see the first post of this thread for antivirus-related interventions:
