Game won’t launch, mods are “corrupted”

Hello! So I just bought a new gaming laptop a few days ago and I am trying to transfer my saves, tray files and mods from my old Mac. The saves and tray files aren’t giving me any problems. The mods however… I have a lot of mods and CC in my game. I use CC on almost every sim and I have a decent amount of build CC. (Having to redownload all my mods from my new computer is the last resort so please don’t suggest that please and thank you) My game refuses to start because I keeps saying that a Mod I have is corrupted. (It’s indigo landings dental care mod of which I have the latest version) I tried removing it and restarting the game but then it tells me the next mod in line (indigos healthcare mod) is corrupted, then the next mod is corrupted, and the next and so forth. So the computer is basically telling me all my Mods are corrupted which is not true because again, I have the latest version of almost all my Mods. And even if they were corrupted, I see no reason why the game wouldn’t launch anyway. If something was wrong I would get a last exception notification. Earlier today I thought I had finally got it working again. I downloaded the update from today and the game actually launched. Of course I got the notification saying that Mods had been disabled and I needed to enable them and relaunch the game. So I did that but the game wouldn't enable script mods. I use a lot of script mods so I need that to work but it wouldn’t enable them no matter how many times I checked the box and restarted the game and I couldn’t figure out why. So I repaired the game and now I’m back to same problem as before. The game won’t launch because it says the mod is “corrupted.” The same mod. I even made a new Sims 4 file, launched that game (mod and CC free) to see if it would work. When it did, to added all my saves and trays and mods, hit play and the same Unable to start error popped up. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? This is my first PC (I’ve only used Mac up to now) so I am not used to this system. What am I missing here? Please help!! Here’s a picture of what the error looks like:

  • @iamlimeyellow  Please remove all the mods you've transferred, delete localthumbcache.package, and make sure the game works.  If it does, transfer the mods from your Mac again, except this time, zip them together first.  (Right-click on the Mods folder and select Compress.)  Unzip the folder (right-click, Extract) once it's on your new laptop.

Please keep in mind that some mods may be incompatible with the patch released today, so you may still need to test your content.

@iamlimeyellow  Are you asking about localthumbcache.package?  It's just a cache file, in this case one that stores data about thumbnails and maybe a few other things.  Deleting it isn't always necessary, but it's good practice and can prevent some graphical oddities with sim or house thumbnails that you might see when custom content has been removed.

The likely issue here is that transferring the .package files corrupted them in some way.  We see that a lot when the files are moved to external storage formatted as Fat32, which USB sticks tend to be by default, as well as some external drives advertised to work with both Windows and macOS.  Zipping the folder prevents the corruption during transfer.
