Have to pause between commands and to locate my mouse?

I play Sims 4 often, but today when loading up the game and picking a Sim I noticed the mouse being slower and slower at picking up my movements on my laptop's touchpad. It got to the point I had to pause between each action, and wait for the mouse pointer to appear again (sometimes it goes off screen and I can't locate it, other times it just freezes) then I have to wait for it to respond to my touch. It's only doing this in The Sims game as I've been using my touchpad for this and social networking since. I checked in my mouse settings and made sure the mouse trail was turned off, I also made sure I hadn't clicked the Sims 3 camera in the game settings. I also right clicked the game in Origin and "repaired" it, and right clicked on the game and chose the game properties option then under Command Line Arguments typed and applied :w

None of these solutions have made any difference, I'm using Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire ES 15

Can anyone help? It's so frustrating not being able to play (especially when I have to sit and watch my partner play Xbox all night)

Thanks in advance

  • Sounds like you're running out of RAM, but that's for the EA folks to determine. To pause the game quickly, press 0 (zero) or P.

The mouse lag issue is normal in Sims 3 because of the massive memory leak from the style editor that EA refuses to acknowledge. Never seen it in Sims 4, though.

Your computer is below minimum requirements on both graphcs chip and processor.

Don't think there's much you can do to make it faster.

It used to work perfectly on this laptop though, is there any reason it would just suddenly stop working? ☹️
I don't have any other computers so pretty gutted if this means I'll have to give up Sims, especially when I've just spent £60 on the expansions etc.

The more packs/patches you add, the more demanding the game gets.

If you're borderline already, adding more can put you over the edge.

I would try get a refund for the expansions you bought and play without them.
