My game opens in window mode and my graphics settings are changed???

Hit play and this popped up (screenshot) then my game opened in windowed mode and all my graphics settings are not as I left them. This is the second time this has happened. Last time I removed my saves and deleted the while sims 4 folder to fix it. Can someone tell me the cause or a less annoying fix?

Soooo....I think it's my options file but I would like to know why this keeps happening all of the sudden (2nd time in a month to 6 weeks) and if I can prevent it. I'll give you whatever info you need. Thanks💚

  • epdaly11  Do you have a third-party app running that might be "optimizing" or otherwise changing settings for your games?  For example, Nvidia's GeForce Experience offers the option to do this.  It or another app could force the game into whatever settings it deems appropriate.

If that's not the issue, is OneDrive running on your computer?  It could be replacing your current version of Options.ini, with the graphics settings you wanted to use, with an older copy.  OneDrive shouldn't replace newer files with older ones but sometimes does so anyway.

Also did you look at the screenshot bc what is that? It still has origin in it...so weird

  • epdaly11  GFE's setting to optimize games is a check box or a button that should be easy to find.  I'm not in front of a Windows PC right now, but I can look later if you don't see it.

For OneDrive, do you want it gone entirely, or do you just want to keep it away from your Sims 4 data, or do you not mind it syncing your data but would like it to stop changing your Options.ini file (if OneDrive is the problem in the first place)?  I can help with any of these; just let me know what you prefer.

I'd ignore the other error if it doesn't come back.  It hasn't been updated, hence the "Origin" part, but it's also not harmful as long as it's not persistent.

Ok so opened GeForce and it wasn't even logged in. I logged in,hopefully with the right account, there was no sims 4 tile so I don't think that's the issue? As for OneDrive I guess keep it away from my Sims files. Honestly whatever is the easiest to do lol. I appreciate the assistance 💚
