Having issues with being inspired.

I have this problem with my sims that when they need to achieve something while being inspired (for a want or an aspiration), even though they are inspired, the want doesn't go away, or the aspiration doesn't seem to count it.  It is two sims in the same household. I do not have any cc or mods, just a few expansions and packs. Does anyone have any idea as to what I can do to fix that? Thanks
