HELP!! ( Frozen Sims)

Hello and Merry Christmas Eve!!

I'm having some difficulties with my Sims 4 game. Every time I play my game, during the first 2 minutes of gameplay my sims will either remain on the interaction they were given or if they weren't given any and you'd want them to do something they will stand there forever and won't move at all. Yes, I have only one Mod installed, which is the Story Progression mod and that's it. Can someone please help me because I would love to play Sims while I'm on winter break and  I can't do so because of the lack of gameplay. I can't even make my sim travel anywhere because when I give them the command to travel they won't.

Thanks!

  • I ran the Dxdiag.exe and it said there's no problem found. I'm going to see what happens when I start a new family.

Yes you can try to make a new save, that could clear some problems. Also, remove the localthumbcache.package from the Sime 4-folder in documents. (delete it, it's safe).

You can also try to resent you user files (you will not loose any data).

It is also helpful if you attach the dxdiag so we can help you check it, we might not be looking for something the computer classifies as a "problem". 🙂

Well, from your dxdiag it does not feel like it is your computer's fault, from what I know.. Dedicated memory on your graphics chip is a bit low so you might not be able to run the game on very high settings, but your issue does not really feel like a graphics issue. Did you try reseting your game using the instructions above and starting a new save? Did you have the same problems?

I know that it is usual for the sims to get stuck sometimes, I usually shift-click them and choose reset and they're fine again. But if it happens this much for you something else might be wrong too.

  • UPDATE: I was able to successfully play my family again because you told me to remove the localthumbcache.package from the Sime 4-folder in documents.

    Thank you so much!!

I'm having the same issue and my sims are on a date!!! This is a brand new game, only installed it yesterday and played for a few hours. I have no mods, havent used cheat codes, no expansion pack either. Really dont want to uninstall the game because all the work setting it up yesterday is then wasted. I tried saving, reset sims, and closed the game but it still happens after 30 mins of game play.

I'm having the same exact problem. My sims will freeze up and ignore any commands I give them. And sometimes resetting them fixes them. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can play hours with no problems. But most of the time I can't.

And I've tried all aforementioned solutions. I've made a new save, deleted the localthumbcache, repaired the game, reset the game files, took out the mods that I thought were causing the issue, made sure all my mods were up to date, etc.

In regards to mods, I have a ton admittedly. But I don't have the one mod bedstuy44 said they had installed. So perhaps it's not mods? I know I was reading another thread about this particular bug and they said it was outdated custom traits. I removed all of my custom traits and still encountered the problem.

I really have no clue what's causing this, but it's been driving me insane.

I've attached my DxDiag and recent lastexception file as well (though I don't get a LE notification when my sims stop responding).
