how can i remove all files from pc

How can I completely remove the sims 4 and all files from my computer and reinstall a new sims 4 ?

Thanks

  • Hi @Jaeger-Wrydan !  Are you using a Mac or PC?  Are you referring to the Origin folders left behind when you uninstall TS4?  You can delete Origin also and reinstall it fresh from  origin.com afterward.  There are some hidden folders as well and you have to change your computer settings to show them.  I don't know how to do that on Mac.  You can search online for Mac instructions.  For PC (Windows 10) you can use the search bar next to the Start menu by typing "show hidden files".  In the "For Developers" section, look for the "File Explorer" settings and "Change Settings to show hidden files", then click "Show Settings".  Under the "Hidden files and folders" section, select the "Show hidden files, folders and drives" button. Then click apply and OK.  (Note: You may also need to click reset folders for the change to take effect.)  Then you can delete all Origin folders from your C: Program (x86) folder and also these:
    C:\ProgramData (delete Origin folder)
    C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local (delete Origin folder)

    C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming (delete Origin folder)

Just be careful not to delete anything else as you could inadvertently wipe out other programs or damage your computer.

  • @Jaeger-Wrydan  Are you referring to the Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts?  This holds the user data and isn't removed (usually) when the game is uninstalled because people may not want to lose their saves.  But you can simply drag it to the trash/recycle bin to get rid of it.

If you'd like to do a clean uninstall of Sims 4, with absolutely no files left in the registry or anywhere else, you'll need an app to remove everything.  Here's one way:

    • If you do want to keep your saves, put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.
  • Thank You Yes I forgot to mention I am on PC

I will try this. Thank  you for your help.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be replying years later, but is there any possible way for me to use the Revo app with an external drive?

  • isalv  Yes, Revo should detect a game installed on an external drive as long as the drive itself is plugged in and recognized by the system.

Since this thread is old though, I'll lock it here.  If you need more help, please create your own thread.
