How to Completely get rid of OneDrive

Hello,

I thought that I did uninstall OneDrive. I don't see the Cloud anywhere. But I just recently got an email saying  "Many files were recently deleted from your OneDrive."

It's obvious that there was a recently update in which OneDrive was installed secretly. How do I completely get rid of it?

Also, this is what I found when I was doing a search on it.

I did uninstall everything there is to do with one drive. But how do I get rid of what is in the attachment?

And by the way, my game has been slow lately.

  • @SimSeeker  This AppData folder holds application-related data but not the applications themselves.  You can delete the files in your screenshot if you want, but their presence doesn't mean OneDrive is currently installed, only that it was at some point.

The message you received was likely about files being hosted on Microsoft servers.  Removing OneDrive from your computer doesn't mean that everything in cloud storage is deleted too, it just means your files aren't being synced and you can't access the cloud data from File Explorer.  If you want to see what's still there, go to onedrive.com and sign in with your Microsoft account.

The important questions here are where your Documents directory is, which you can see by right-clicking and choosing Properties > Location (or General); and whether OneDrive is running  at all, which you can see in the Task Manager.  If Documents is where you want it and OneDrive isn't running, there's nothing else to worry about.

@puzzlezaddict Hello, sorry for the late reply. I did delete the files, but they came back. I've also deleted it in Task Manager (Unless it is under a different name). And I don't want OneDrive. It actually did move some script files outside of some of the mod folders. And if I do click on the Documents, how can I tell if OneDrive is still syncing through there? And I also can't get rid of amd64_microsoft-windows-s..lers-onedrivebackup_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.22621.3672_none_878e99a2a5eb2802 or amd64_microsoft-windows-onedrive-setup_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.22621.1_none_86d60ce019ce7baf. If I do then my system will not work. How do I get rid of them for good.

@SimSeeker  OneDrive only syncs files here:

    C:\Users\username\OneDrive

If you don't have files there, it doesn't matter whether OneDrive is running or not.  And if you unlink your PC from your Microsoft account, there's no account for OneDrive to sync to, so it wouldn't matter whether it was running.

I understand you want it gone, but generally speaking, it's more difficult to safely get rid of Windows system files than it is to allow them to exist but block them from doing anything.  (And a Windows update may restore the files anyway.)  Having no linked account means OneDrive can't touch your computer.

Even with a linked account, it can't reach into other folders where it's not normally allowed; the only danger is it trying to move your Documents directory back to the OneDrive folder.  This, in turn, is a request you can deny any and every time.

Point is, if your Documents directory is not in OneDrive (as I described before), you're fine for now, and just don't let OneDrive change your settings.  If you unlink, you're safe going forward as well.  I would suggest just leaving those other files be, knowing they can't do any harm.
