how to fix [135dec40:29f00e76:00000084:18a1dd51]

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.81.72.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Dogs and Cats, Get to Work, Parenthood, Get Famous, Seasons, City living, Vampires
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Launching the game
What happens when the bug occurs? I get the error code and the game won't launch
What do you expect to see? I expect the game to launch
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Also, I have already turned off Controlled Folder access and I even added the file for sims 4 to the accepted files

  • @SunnyJae  If you see this error every time the game patches, then the problem is either the patch itself or its delivery, or how your system responds to it.  Since only a few people see the error each patch, as opposed to all of us, the problem is on your system.  The usual suspect is an antivirus because an antivirus could easily be flagging the changes the patch makes to the game's program files, and because other system issues would be unlikely to both show up only after a patch and be fixable (usually) by the listed steps.

Next time there's a patch, try disabling your antivirus completely before updating and see what happens.  For now, make a completely new folder somewhere on your computer and use Origin's Move Game feature to move Sims 4 to that folder.  It can theoretically be anywhere, but in practice, it's better to stay away from Documents or Program Files.

  • @n0tshannen  Please try the othe troubleshooting steps listed here:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/unable-to-start-initialization-error-at-startup/

If those don't help, please try playing in a new admin user account on your computer.  Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services you normally use.  You won't need to download the game again, although your saves and other user content won't be available.  (That can be addressed later if necessary.)  Just see whether you can play.

  • Is there a permanent fix for this? It happens every month or so and this time none of the fixes are working. Beyond frustrated by this thing constantly reoccurring. It kind of seems like it happens after any sort of update to the game. ☹️

@SunnyJae  The issue may be your antivirus, in which case the permanent fix would be to change its settings so that it ignores Sims 4 and Origin.

It’s not. I’ve already gone through the full list of fixes everywhere on their site, including allowing the game through the antivirus firewalls. I’ve had to do the same thing for Minecraft and have zero issues with that game. So it’s not that.

  • I found that I had the same error as you in the past two days. By the way, my English is not good. I am a windows system I redownloaded the game about three times and it took a very long time I had the urge to redownload my entire computer but luckily I didn't .I found it was one drive problem. After I log in to my account, I open one drive. The game can be started normally .I read other people's comments and I can confirm that this has nothing to do with anti-virus. It’s related to the file loading of one drive thing.

i have the same problem but i dont have Origin because i have Windows. How can i fix this?

  • biank47  This error is currently mostly antivirus-related.  So please set exceptions in yours for TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64, or the Bin folder they're in.  Set one for EADesktop.exe as well.

Since this thread is somewhat old, I'll lock it here.  For anyone reading this, if setting exceptions doesn't help, please create your own thread.
