Won't load from EA app or game shortcut

I feel like I'm going to start ripping my hair out, so please anyone who can help.

I've been trying to open Sims4 since yesterday around 8pm.  Every time, it says I need to repair.  When I repair, the EA app disappears and the game never loads.

I have repaired.  Restarted my PC . Reinstalled.  Restarted.  Disabled all custom content.  Repaired.  Restarted. Repaired.  Repaired.  Repaired, started, never loaded.  Looked at my computer, checked to see if it needed defragged or had issues.  Reinstalled windows.  Updated all my drivers.  Reinstalled the EA app.  I live in the rural rural area of Ohio and my only internet is a hotspot, you can't IMAGINE how long reinstalling took me.  Did it again!  Repaired.  Twice!  Restarted.

NOPE.

I've spent so much money.  I have all these expansions on my PS5 and repurchased them here just so I could play on a laptop instead.  I've been playing 25 years, I bought 25 anniversary swag!  I know this game.  I know how to troubleshoot this game.  I cannot figure it out.  Please help.

  • OMG, ditto!  I feel stupid.  My cat knocked my laptop on the couch (a foot or two) the day before this happened, so I kind of thought I had a hardware issue.  I tried "repair" multiple times.  For me, this started last night around 10pm EST.  I repaired, restarted my computer, cleaned out custom stuff, repaired, checked for updates on my game and my PC, restarted, ran other programs, tried again - till 1am.  Got up this morning, tried it all again and it still didn't work.  I am currently reinstalling the game and all my expansions; I am hoping it will work after this.  If it's just a glitch we're all getting, I'm gonna be so annoyed.

  • I was struggling with mine too, mine was working fine two weeks ago.

When you have the option to 'repair', does it give you another option? Like 'Lauch'? Have you tried to do that option instead? My sibling thinks my issue was a thing to do with a corrupt file or something

    Sorry it's being a nuisance.

So, yes - it says repair.  And I repair it, I run the repair through the EA App.  And then it won't launch after, it just sits doing nothing.  Forever.  And then if I restart and try again, it'll say I need to repair again.

  • Same. It starts to load but crashes and exits TS4 and goes back to the EA app. I've tried every online and EA help suggestion but it doesn't work. If I move the file to another spot,  for some reason I have to re-download TS4 even though I didn't delete it.

  • KaekoSpot  The error message is about a component of the newest VC++ runtimes, and Windows is suggesting you reinstall those, not Sims 4.  So please do that.  Open Windows Settings > Apps, scroll down to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, and uninstall anything from 2015 or newer.  (Don't touch the older versions.)  You can get fresh copies here:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

You'll need both the x86 and x64 versions of the 2015-2022 runtimes, but you can skip the ARM version, which is for a different class of device. Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

Kjald6  If you'd still like help, please describe the issue you're seeing in more detail.

KumikoNaji  Please post a screenshot of the error you're seeing if it's different than the one in the original post.  If it's the same, then try the above.
