How to Restart?

So recently the Sims 4 updated on its own. The update is complete, but the game won't open. A little pop-up appears when I click "resume update" saying that I must restart the game to install the update. How do I restart Sims 4? And will this delete all my progress?

Restarting a game means basically quitting it and starting it back up. Assuming you are not running the game, quit every process from Task Manager and continue with the update.
