How to save with current UI issues and black screen

Hi there, I'm aware the issue in the Simology panel is under investigation, but immediately after opening it, nearly my entire screen froze black. The skill bars of my sims doing skillbuilding tasks are still visible. I can still click randomly and have my sims blindly perform actions but I cannot open the options panel by either clicking the icon or pressing escape. I can't exit to manage worlds. Is there any way to save my game without losing progress? I don't remember when I last saved (it probably wasn't too long ago but I stopped for dinner and left the game open between now and then so I can't recall). I tried using the in-game recording feature to record the issue and only got a fully black screen. My computer (Windows 10) will not let me screen record for some reason either.

Any help is appreciated so I can close my game until the game has been repaired
