How to send child to school?

Apparently, any sort of rabbit hole (Schools, shops, jobs) Are gone. Your childs should walk out to the street and fade out by themselves. If you cancelled the "Go to School" action or it didn't show up, then open the Job panel and there should be a "Go to school" button or something like that. I haven't actually played the game since Origin is refusing to download it faster, but I have played past Sims games so thats how it should work.

The school bus doesn’t come for me and when I hit go to school my sim shows a bubble with a walking path and then a x and I can’t seem to get him to go to school.......

I am having the same problem, showing the walk sign with an x. 

I was having the same issue then I realized that I forgot to unlock the door for my kids. Check to see if your kids have access to the door. Then they should be able to walk outside and go to school.

Maybe his/her path is somehow blocked and they can not get to school.
