HP Envy x360 good for the Sims 4?
Hi all!
I made the unfortunate mistake of purchasing a Chromebook a few months ago without realizing it couldn't run the Sims on it ☹️ Serves me right for buying without doing research! I've read a lot of the threads about what laptops to buy for the Sims 4 but didn't see this particular one so I wondered if someone could give me the lowdown on if it would run the Sims 4. I don't need it to run on ultra hd graphics, just to run. I see a lot of recs for gaming laptops in this price range but I'd really prefer it to look more like a non-gaming laptop. It's kind of silly but I'm really turned off by the red keyboards and things. I'm hoping to pay $600 or less so it is a tall order. Anyway, here is the link to the one I'm thinking about and thank you so much for your help!
@hotchkir That laptop would probably run Sims 4 fine on medium or medium-high settings, maybe high if you didn't have all the demanding expansion packs.
If you want alternatives, this one has a processor that's a little stronger and a graphics chip that's a little faster, and it's $550:
It doesn't have a touchscreen, if that matters to you, but Sims 4 itself doesn't handle touchscreens well anyway, according to people who have them. Still, you might want the feature for other reasons.
This is another alternative, also $550, with the same hardware as the HP you found, again other than the touchscreen:
This one has an entry-level dedicated graphics card, one that's significantly faster than the integrated chips in the HP or the two laptops above. It's also $600:
Oh, and if you don't mind a green backlit keyboard, this one is a true gaming laptop, capable of running all current Sims 4 packs together on ultra settings, and it's $600:
And yes, most of these are from Walmart, but that's because the site just discounted a number of laptops as of today, so the prices are temporarily better than on most other sites.
I didn't go into much detail on any of these, since I don't really know what you want (other than "not a gaming laptop"), but if you'd like more info on any of them, or have more questions in general, please feel free to ask.
