@kurobestneko  The i7 is significantly more powerful than the i5, but the majority of that power is completely wasted on Sims 4.  The game can only use four cores, so having more than six, as the i5 does, makes no difference.  The higher boost clock speed does matter in theory, but there aren't many in-game situations where it would make a difference.  For practical purposes, when you saw a slowdown that the processor needed to clear, it would clear faster with the i7, but that might be, for example, the difference between waiting three seconds instead of two.

And again, the 3060 ti is a bit faster than the 4060, and its 1% low framerates don't drop as low either.  Since the graphics card is the limiting factor in most gaming scenarios, that matters more than the processor, although of course all this hardware is far more than you need for Sims 4.

Given that the computer with the i7 is so much more expensive and the i5 is paired with a slightly better GPU, I would say that the cheaper model is the better choice.  You can also upgrade the processor down the line if you want to.  In a couple of years, when Intel and AMD are multiple generations past these models, you could probably find a used i5-13600K (as good as the i7-13700K for current games) for cheap and just swap it in.  But that might never be necessary at all, and it probably won't be if you're still only playing Sims 4.

  • @kurobestneko  The answer is "probably," depending on the graphics card in the Victus.  If it has an RTX 2050, that's a slow graphics card by current standards and, frankly, a bad product.  It's better than an integrated graphics chip but worse than any other new-ish dedicated card.  Anything else—RTX 3050 or higher, or even a GTX 1650—is at least fine.  The 1650 can run Sims 4, all current packs included, on ultra graphics settings, although high poly custom content or Reshade may require a bit of compromise; the 2050 may not be able to manage ultra settings even with no cc present.

If you're not sure what you're looking at, feel free to link the product page.  If you'd like other recommendations, please list your budget and country as well as any other details that matter to you.

@kurobestneko  An RTX 4060 is significant overkill for Sims 4, not that that's a problem.  It would be great for playing Hogwarts Legacy or other similar games though, if you think you might be interested at some point.

I do want to point out that the price seems high for the hardware, although I don't really know anything about the Italian market.  However, this computer has exactly the same core components and is 400€ cheaper:

The build quality of the Victus is better, but not 400€ better.  I checked the rest of this site and didn't find anything else worth mentioning that was currently available, but this is available on the HP Italy site:

The 3060 ti is actually a bit faster than the 4060, especially in the 1% low range (what you see during the most demanding moments), just a little older.  The processor is the same model except one generation older, more than sufficient for Sims 4.  I think it would be the better option even if the two were the same price.

If you'd like me to check other stores, please link them here, and I'll have a look.  And if you have more questions in general, please feel free to ask.

Hey! Idk if you can help me or not but I just recently got this laptop in the mail. Installed sims, copied my old saves, mods and tray folders into the new EA folder in documents. It has been crashing ever since. I did what I always did on my old laptop when moving around my files to update/install a new game and it has always been fine, just invested into this gaming laptop for better gameplay but its been giving me nothing but frustration with crashing. I could be playing for 2 mins, 40 mins, an hour or just make it to the loading screen and it exit out. I also updated my geforce experience and repaired the game and installed and reinstalled my game several times with just the same out come. Idk if you know what Im doing wrong! 😭

@abisimlygail  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and let me know how it runs.

If you get another crash, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
