It's happening to me too, I see that other people also have the same problem and nobody knows what's happening.

It's been happening to me since yesterday.

  • Try disabling Game Mode and Game Bar, both under Windows Settings > Gaming. Only thing that worked for me

One thing that I found might work for you if you have an Nvidia GPU is switching to the low-performance (in my case, the Intel graphics card). It managed to launch on low graphics settings, if you can try to get into the game to mess with the settings. Go to systems, Display, then graphics (you may have to add the Sims if it is not already on there.) You should then be able to switch your GPU preference. But yeah, I am fairly certain that the update on the fourth broke the game, as I only started having that issue afterwards, and I do not use any mods/CC

Let me know if this works!

"I already solved the problem by moving The Sims 4 folder to the desktop, and the game gave me a clean start from scratch. It's a bit of a pain to recover the CC little by little, but it worked for me."

Maybe try and force launch into directx9?
go to ea app, then the sims>manage> view properties> add "-dx9" in the advanced launch options (without the parenthesis) then save changes and launch the game? this worked for me, you can also do "-dx11" if you know your game is in directx9.
you can do this in steam, right click the game> properties> advanced launch options type the same thing> close the popup window and relaunch.
also i recently ran into an issue where I had gshade installed, and uninstalled it. For whatever reason the game stopped working. i removed all mods even did a clean reinstall of the game and it was still broken. i reinstalled gshade and it started working again. lol so maybe if you had gshade installed and removed it then reinstall it? im not saying installing it will fix anything if you didnt have it before your game broke.
