I can't open The Sims 4

I've had The Sims for over a year, and I felt like playing a little a few days ago. Unfortunately, it wouldn't open. I researched what that error could be, but I couldn't find anything. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game countless times, but it didn't work. I need help understanding what this error is and why it only appeared now after so long.

The error is written in Portuguese because I'm Portuguese, but what it says is "There is a problem with your game settings. Reinstall the game." I did so, but nothing worked.

  • oizao  If your computer runs Windows 7, please force the game to launch in DirectX 9 mode.  Open the EA App, click Sims 4 > Manage > View properties, and add -dx9 to the command line box.

If that doesn't help, or you're running a newer operating system, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

do you know what to do in this case?

  • oizao  Restart your computer and try again.  If that doesn't help, please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.  Then try again to install the media feature pack.

i restarted and cant install it anyway

  • oizao  That means you opened the regular version of PowerShell or Terminal, not the one with (Administrator) in its name.  DISM will only work in the Admin version.

i did everything you told me to, and it still doesnt add

  • oizao  Sorry for the late reply.  I wanted to get a second opinion in case I was missing something obvious.  My next question is whether you're using an admin Windows account when you try to install the Media Feature Pack.  If not, try it in an admin account.
