I usually cut my Sims 4 folder and paste it to the desktop and then cut/paste it back to the Electronic Arts folder afterwards.
Right-click on your Sims 4 folder, select Cut and Paste it to the desktop.
Then uninstall Origin. - Manually uninstall the Origin client

You don't need to backup the whole Sims 4 folder, but it's the easiest way to back your Sims 4 files up that I've found. Everything gets saved, including game saves, mods and user options, and you won't loose anything. 🙂
Ok but what about the expansion packs, would I end up losing those? I ask because I have a lot of them adding up to well over $100.

@starwarrior1645 Your expansion packs are also owned by your account, not your computer. So they'll be available when you reinstall, provided you sign into the same EA account you're using now.

when i uninstall it a pop up on my computer says “ All add-ons and bonuses in the game installation directory will be removed. Are you sure you wnat to uninstall The Sims 4?” what does this mean???

@BunnyHopp1990 That means the content will be uninstalled, not that it'll be removed from your account. Everything you've ever bought will be available to install again whenever you want: your account owns it, not your computer.
