Solved

I put my sims 4 game in my onedrive. Now my cc and mods are not showing.

So to save some space, I put my sims 4 game in one onedrive with all my ccs and mods. I heard from someone else that she did this and it all worked fine. So I thought I'd do it too. Well, everything is in there but none of my ccs and mods are showing up in my game. Can someone tell me why and how I can get my stuff to show up? I really don't want to have to put it all back on my computer. I need the space.

Thanks.

  • @rocklover793  I've moved your post to the Sims 4 PC tech section.  If the game isn't reading your user content in OneDrive, then yes, you do need to move it back to your hard drive.  That's the best place for that folder anyway, as in, you'll get the best in-game performance.

I suppose you could instead use a symbolic link to point to OneDrive, but this could be problematic if you're ever disconnected, and I haven't tested whether it would actually work with OneDrive.  But if you want to try, here are instructions for creating a symlink.  They're written with an external drive in mind.

    A few notes about this:

    • Please make sure you're redirecting only the Sims 4 folder, rather than all of Documents, or else Windows may react badly.
    • You need to get the file paths exactly right, or this won't work.  You can see the entire file path by right-clicking on a given folder and selecting Properties.
    • Please make a backup of your Sims 4 folder elsewhere (like on your desktop) before trying this, as (like I said) I don't know for sure whether it'll work.
    • If your internet connection is slow, this may significantly slow down the game, since it'll constantly be reading from and writing to cloud storage.  If your connection is unstable, the game might crash.  So only do this if the connection is reliable and reasonably fast.

Thank you for the help! It sucks though, that I can't use one drive like that. It would be nice to have more space. Oh well.

I know this post is old, but how were you able to move it back if you don’t mind me asking?
