Im getting the error VC runtime despite doing everything I could think of.
I've had countless errors with this program and finally thought I'd be done, when yesterday I woke up after downloading the sims 4 overnight, expecting to play it, to the VC++ runtime error, specifically (1601). I've done the redist files, deleted them, redownloaded them, and someone said to delete the older ones, delete the game, and redownload the game, so that is what I am doing right now. I'm hoping this fixes the problem though I doubt it will.
Some other things I have done:
Run sfc /scannow in command prompt, did what it told me
Downloaded the game 3 times (in safe mode because origin won't let me download it otherwise, and it'll be 4 whenever this is done)
Deleted the other 3 downloads after they didn't work
Downloaded Ccleaner and ran it 4 times in registry cleaning, let it clean everywhere else in my pc
Turned off the use of origin in-game setting in the sims properties
Restarted my computer over and over and over and over again
Put in a call (the person will be calling in around 2 hours)
Talked to my friend who's had the sims for a while
Done everything Origin says to do
Watched many Youtube videos with "100% Fixes" (they didn't fix it)
Tried to download the Legacy version (I meet the requirements of the normal sims game)
Talked to my dad who's fairly tech-savvy
Downloaded Windows updates
Run Origin as admin
Logged out of Origin
Deleted and Reinstalled Origin 3 times
Turned on Windows Installer
I uninstalled KB3000988 but KB2918614 isn't actually downloaded on my computer.
I probably forgot a few but those are all the ones I did. Please help!
I don't know much about specs, so let's hope I get this right:
I'm on an Alienware computer with default resolution (1080 x 1920 I think?), Windows 8, 64bit, and I use NVIDIA.
If you have anything to recommend other than what I've already done, please do so! I just want to play the Sims. ☹️
Thanks for the reply,
I ended up realizing I did something really stupid. One of the people from EA called me and helped me troubleshoot, and at that point, I remembered I had been booting my computer up in safe mode with networking every single time I restarted it. So I was trying to finalize the download in safe mode, which of course doesn't work because the Windows installer doesn't work in safe mode. So I figured it out, fixed it and it is running.
Thank you though!
