In-Game Recorder Stuttering/Freezing During Shooting

Hi,

I create machinimas on YouTube for the Sims and yesterday I came across a pretty devastating issue. As the title mentions, my game freezes and begins stuttering (and also framerate dropping)

about 1 second into recording. Almost exactly one month ago I was recording with no issue, so I'm unsure if this is from a patch or not. I've already taken steps to remove all CC and even the entire original Sims 4 folder in Documents and testing a fresh new Sims folder, but it seems the issue isn't from that. I've also tried reducing graphics settings and resolution, but the issue occurs when trying to record in Large Uncompressed which is what I've always recorded in. When I try to record with less resolution, the AVI file can't even be processed, making the file garbage.

My other games run fine and I've even tried in game recording on Overwatch to see if I see similar results, but that game ran smoothly around its typical FPS for my computer which is around 50-60. The second I stop recording in game, the Sims continues to run at its smooth and regular frame rate its always ran at.

Please help me, I can't continue my YT series with this bug.

    Bump?

I've reinstalled and still have this issue.

  • Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

To gather a DxDiag on your computer, please follow the steps here: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

You can attach the txt file to your post directly.

(also, please allow at least 36-48 hours before bumping a thread. AHQ is a community help community platform and we all have other stuff to attend to, especially at this time of the year)

    Hi @Jdub_White

your space on the c drive is really low.

Windows needs space for temp files

I would try moving some files onto your other drives and clean up some stuff you don't need.

On which drive do you have the user files and the game files ?
