[INFO REQUEST] Black Screen on Startup
If your game just start to a black screen with sound only, please try the following things
- Try both windowed and full screen mode
- In Windowed mode, try resizing the window
- Make sure you fulfill the minimum requirements of the game.
- Update your video card drivers
- Roll-Back to earlier graphics drivers.
- Make sure your game runs on the card and not the chip if you have a dual graphics system
- Disable Origin In Game
- Try the 32 bit Version
- Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset
- Delete this file: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\options(.ini) and let the game create a new one.
- If you have other demanding games, try those
- Download the Sims 4 CAS Demo (it's free) and check if that work
- Try changing to laptop mode (Open the file documents\electronicarts\thesims4\options(.ini) and find this line: advancedrendering =. Change it to 0 for laptop mode on or 1 for laptop mode off
- Try hitting ALT-TAB to switch to the desktop and let it sit a while. Then switch back.
- Play around with the resolution (Open the file documents\electronicarts\thesims4\options(.ini) and find this lines: resolutionheight and resolutionwidth. Set it to match your computer's resolution or something similar.
If none of these help, please post in this thread with the things you've tried and anything else you think important.
