[Info Request] Error 102 - Please post here
EA has just put an update live that addresses this issue. I do not know at this point if it only address Type 1 or also Type 2.
It seesm to solve the issue for most but you will need to start a new save game.
Many people are getting an error 102 on trying to load a lot.
While everything points towards the beloved trait, it's unclear how to fix at this point since many of you get it from the start without having played the game.
Instead of having multiple threads on this issue, please all post in here so we can find a solution.

This is for Error 102 ONLY
There seem to be two different issues here. Error 102 seems to be more an indication WHEN the error occurs rather than why.
Type 1
The error only occurs on certain save games and you might also have error 122. This error is caused by corrupted relationships which can occur if you deleted a Sim or if you suffer from the disappearing Sim issue. This is accelerated by the beloved trait since you have more relationships this way.
Here's a few suggestions on how to resolve this:
- Remove the beloved trait (See Error 122 for instructions)
- Make sure all Sims on your lot age properly (Instruction: Pinguintech)
- Remove the relationships to your own Sims before deleting a household with relationship.destroy. Instructions are here: Widowed Sims can’t remarry. Not sure if there's a way to destroy them if they are already corrupted.
Please post here if none of this suggestions work for you.
Type 2
This error occurs on the game itself without having played. The issue was there from the beginning but seems to spread more since the patch from Sept 9th.
The cause of this is unclear but it seems to be more common on laptop computers.
If you have type 2, please post in this thread, answering the following questions
- Do you have a laptop or a desktop ?
- What graphics card do you have ?
- When did the issue start for you ?
- Do you have laptop mode enabled ?
- Please post your complete erorr message (including the long number). If it varies each time, is there any element (except the 102) that is always the same ?
- Anything else you think important ?
