Issue with deleting clientcontentdeltabuild0.package

I installed some families that a friend of mine sent to me. I trust her and know she didn't send anything bad, but now my Sims 4 folder keeps regenerating a "Content" folder, and I don't want any CC in my game.

I have CC and script mods disabled, yet the file keeps reappearing every time I restart the game. I am having numerous problems in the game now, and I feel sure that they are related to this folder.

I've included some screenshots, however, I am not sure if these files are attaching correctly, because when I preview this post they do not appear.  One of the screenshots is of this strange panoramic picture that appears in Windenburg. I've also included a screenshot of my Sims 4 folder where the content folder keeps reappearing. As said, this is with the cc and mods options turned off. And I've included a screenshot of the contents of a file in the content folder that seems to have most of the package files.

I have more pictures of the content folder, but I guess I can't attach more than 3.

I delete the folder constantly, and I've removed the save that has the new families in it and started a fresh save. The problem persists.

I'm also getting first exceptions by the dozens. I think it's only when loading families, but they are not the families that arrived with CC, they are my own families that I've created in the past.

I think the main problem is the package called clientcontentdeltabuild0.package, because I find that when I run a google search. However, the answers that are given in the search do not help, as they do not refer to this special folder called content. Also, I did what was suggested, ran a repair on my game, but when I turned it on again the file is back again.

I would appreciate any help I can get with this problem. Thank you.

Moving this over to The Sims 4 PC tech issues board.

  • @ariannaneal  Just to clarify, the content folder contains the data from an SDX download.  So if you delete the folder, the game will redownload the content.  You can disable this in Options > Sims Delivery: tell the game not to auto-download the data.

If you start a new save in Windenburg with no mods or cc present at all, as in, you've removed the Mods folder from the Sims 4 folder, do you still see the weird graphics?

Thank you very much for the response.

When I open a new save the panoramic picture is not there. It’s just in the save where I originally put the Sims with the CC.

I have a question though. Are you saying that the things in that content folder are not custom content? That’s all internal Maxis stuff? If so I won’t worry about it. It’s just that it says retail somewhere in the folder too. So I assumed it was something very odd. I attached a picture of where it says retail.

Thank you for any additional help.

I did follow the steps outlined in the thread I was referred to. It did not help at all.

@ariannaneal  The content folder definitely contains the data from the Sims Delivery (SDX) feature.  The retail.pc.contentmanifest file lists md5 hash numbers, I'm guessing one for each item included in this SDX; you can probably open the file with Notepad to look.  (I opened it with TextEdit on my Mac.)

The thread linked earlier only applies if an antivirus is blocking the game from writing to the Sims 4 folder, which it doesn't sound like is the case here.

In the affected save, if you play forward with no cc present, then save your progress, quit, and reload, do you still see the weird graphic?  Please use "save as" and rename the save so the original is untouched.  If this doesn't help, you can instead try recovering a backup save:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/recover-backup-save-game/

Using "save as" will also prevent the game from overwriting the backups for the current save since it instead creates a new save slot.  If this becomes necessary, hopefully one of the backups is unaffected.
