Issue with The Sims 4 Start Screen Quality and Repair Process

I am having an issue when launching The Sims 4. The start screen visuals appear distorted and notably low-quality, almost pixelated, impacting my initial experience with the game. Additionally, when attempting to use the EA app to repair The Sims 4, the repair process seems to stall indefinitely on the "Repairing" stage without completing.

I have already tried deleting all mods and CC, and tried to clear the app cache. If someone knows how to fix it, I would really appreciate any advice.

  • @Sibilla2334  Please post a screenshot of the distorted visuals, and another of your in-game graphics settings.  You can put the game into windowed mode and use Windows key-shift-S to capture that portion of the screen.

Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

For the repair issue, do you use a third-party antivirus, and if so, does the repair work with the antivirus (temporarily) disabled?  As long as you're not doing anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe.

Whenever I try to take a screenshot using Windows key-shift-S, it temporarily closes The Sims 4 and opens a different program. I wasn't able to take screenshots, I'm so sorry, but I did run a dxdiag. I don't think I use a third-party antivirus, but I also attached a screenshot of my programs if that tells you anything. I also noticed that the Sims 4 file name is "TS4_x64.exe. I don't know if that's what is supposed to be called, but I thought I'd mention it. Thank you so much for your help.

@Sibilla2334  As mentioned, you need to put Sims 4 into windowed mode first, then use Windows key-shift-S.  And you need to click them all at the same time; simply clicking the Windows key brings up an unrelated menu.

Please make sure your mods haven't returned and that they're removed from the Sims 4 folder the game is actually reading.  I mention this because you have Overwolf (Curseforge's parent company) installed and because there's a OneDrive error in your dxdiag.  Here's how to find the folder the game is reading:

I reinstalled Gshade, and it got fixed. Don't know why exactly, but now I'm not having that problem anymore.
