MzVogue I would normally say that's a reasonable laptop for Sims 4, although it's nice to have 16 GB RAM rather than 8 if you can get it. However, there's a current issue with running Sims 4 on HP gaming laptops, where the game doesn't load at all. There are workarounds, so if this is your only or best option, it's not a deal-breaker. But I'd look for other models first.
As for other recommendations, what's your budget? Are there any other details that matter to you? I wouldn't say you need a desktop rather than a laptop, but it is the better choice if your first priority is performance or longevity. But if you'd prefer a laptop for other reasons, that's fine too.
LeighsGarden That laptop is massive overkill for Sims 4, and it's also more than twice as expensive as the one the OP linked. Maybe they're willing to spend that much more, I don't know, but that kind of budget is certainly not necessary for a laptop just for Sims 4.
Also, HP laptops do not typically break in less than a year. Maybe that's your experience, but it's not normal. Plus, the warranty is always going to be a year or more, at least if you're buying new, so selling laptops that break while still under warranty seems like it would be a bad business decision.
