Last exceptions (again)

After this month's (April 2020) update I keep getting the usual last exceptions. This time, however, when I try to use "LastExceptionAssistant" online it says "unknown error", which means it can't recognize what kind of problem the game is experiencing (I will attach the LE anyway). Anyway, my problems are still the same ones: no TV (can only watch a movie); no soaks; no mud baths; no massages (also, the game does not recognize the objects' functions when trying to build a spa so this is another problem linked to the impossibility to take soaks and muds I think). Then, when entering the hot tubs my sims get out without even being able to perform interactions inside the hot tub. Last but not least (so far but I hope it's all) my sims can't drink, in any way....no taps/sinks, no bars, no university's dispenser. So, it seems my game hates TVs and water for some obscure reason.

I almost forgot to mention that I have disabled cc and Mods BEFORE updating my game today, which means (because, for those who still don't know, I've already tried with resetting my options to default, deleting saves and creating new ones without cc/mods, moving the folder onto the desktop...nothing works). Thank you in advance.

  • @Gaarel   After every patch you need to go through all your mods and CC. That is, all the third party, not EA, material you have downloaded; and look for information on whether they have been updated. Even if you have done so at one point in time, it does not prevent them to error, in case of a new patch.

Here is how to make a new folder:

Follow the very pedagogical description to the point. Do not move back anything from your old folder to the new folder, until you have made a new save and played around in it, doing all the actions you noticed problems with.

If you do not have any problems doing them in the new save in the new folder, that means there is likely something in your old folder that creates the issues. Since there has just been a patch, the first troubleshooting step would be to go through your mods folder.

You have to look every mod and CC up yourself. You can use the 50/50 method for effectiveness.

The Last Exception Assistant rarely have anything to say. You'd be better off reading through the LE yourself, looking for mod names, and then go to that creator's site/Discord etc, asking about it.

I cannot open the LE for some reason. You can post it in text in a post, and under a spoiler to make it easier. I do not promise I am able to understand it. I am waiting for you to try in a new folder first though.

Good evening. As you can see I have not much time at the moment to play, let alone creating a new folder etc. etc. but I'll try that as soon as I can. I've attached one of the latest LEs I have. Another problem is that it seems my Spa Day pack is not working as before (again before June 2019's patch), the objects cause my sims to reset. Also, there is a problem with the food stalls/vendors, same with sinks (when trying to drink) and TVs. I've written this many and many times, so, if this is a "copy" answer, I'm sorry...

Thank you for your time and, again, I'll try to follow what you suggested as soon as I can in the next days.

@DonroaAkashu Too much time has passed, but life happens and this year has been pretty terrible and it has been so for me and my family too (due to covid and other problems...). Now, what I would like to try for my game is completely reinstalling The Sims 4 and my packs/exps (since I have finally changed my connection's provider and it's way faster now).

I have a couple of questions before proceeding though. Do I need to keep my saves and tray files aside even with my LEs issues? Will my packs and expansions be automatically installed even though some were purchased in a store (e.g. I have Get To Work in CD format) and some digitally through EA's wallet?
    Thank you in advance.
  • @Gaarel  Any packs you own in Origin should be available to reinstall, for free.  It doesn't matter whether you bought them in a store or directly from Origin.  You can double-check that they show as owned in your Origin library first if you want.  When installing the base game, you'll be asked whether you want to install your packs, and if not, you can choose to install them later.  Origin will also probably try to download them the first or second time you launch the game, even if you disable auto game updates.

As for saves and Tray files, whether you need to set them aside depends on whether you want your previous content to be available after you reinstall.  If you'd like to start fresh, just delete the Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts.  If you want to preserve your old saves, move the Sims 4 folder elsewhere, let the game create a new one after you've reinstalled, and then move the save files to the new folder.  The same goes for the contents of Tray.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you for your reply. I just wanted to be sure (when asking about tray files and saves) because I've been experiencing last exceptions after a specific update (June 2019) and I was (I still am, actually) worried about the possibility that the same saves may corrupt my game and throw LEs again. But I can't "stand still" and don't want to wait any longer. So I'll try to reinstall and use my current save. Thank you again!
  • @Gaarel If you get any LEs they are important, and lets us know what the issue could be.  Please attach them to your comment.

  • Good evening. After reinstalling I have not experienced any issue/Last Exception...except for (sorry for the pun) a brand new LE occured two days ago. I know it's "old" but it is completely different from the previous ones I have encountered and I am rather curious to understand what it could be, especially because I play with tons of cc and one of the objects/clothes could be the cause (despite I am not sure since my past problems were NOT cc/mods related as reinstalling the game has proved).

  • @Gaarel  One LastException could be noise, basically a random occurrence that doesn't indicate an overall issue.  Is your game crashing, or do you notice any glitches or other issues?  If not, I wouldn't worry about it.
