Looking to purchase a new laptop to play the sims 4 *HELP!* UK £
Hi all!
Really hoping that someone will be able to offer some insight (my mind is frazzled)
I currently own an ASUS VivoBook
Device name LAPTOP-HC19JNFA
Processor AMD A6-9225 RADEON R4
, 5 COMPUTE CORES 2C+3G 2.60 GHz
Installed RAM 4.00 GB (3.88 GB usable)
Device ID 3B67D837-6BE0-47C2-8F6C-7F60B236D38F
Product ID 00325-80050-70334-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
I have 90% of the packs but loading times are incredibly slow that I rarely have time to play by the time its opened up let alone travel around worlds.
I do own a gaming desktop set up but since having my son I don't have the energy to sit up in the office to play and would rather be able to play as and when in the evenings from the sofa near my husband.
I have a budget of around £500 and would preferably like to purchase from Currys and would like to opt to not have a refurbished model.
I am open to other suggestions and would go up to £600 for the right thing.
Please help! all suggestions and advice welcome 🙂
Ones I am looking at are:
@Jessicalynn134 Of the laptops you've linked, this is the best one by a significant margin:
Its graphics card (MX450) is maybe 60% faster in gaming than the next-fastest option, the Iris Xe chip in a couple other options. So if you like it, there's no need to look further, and you're also unlikely to find anything as good for a lower price outside of a Black Friday-level sale.
I'd say the next-best option is the first one:
Its graphics chip is a bit faster than the chip in most of the AMD models, although not enough to cross off those if you liked them for other reasons. I would cross off the last three because they only have half the storage, which, while not a deal-breaker, might be inconvenient, and you have the budget to do better. The only one I would definitely not get is the sixth because it has a weaker processor and graphics chip than the others.
Any of these laptops would be a significant upgrade over your current one, and all of them except the sixth should run Sims 4 on at least medium-high graphics settings. So if you're fine with that and don't need extra storage, get whichever one you like.
If you'd like me to look for other options as well, I can, but it looks like you've just about covered the entire inventory of quality laptops at Currys. The cheapest gaming laptop currently on the site is £630, and you already have a gaming desktop, so the extra cost is probably not worth it. The MX450 might be just be able to run Sims 4 on ultra settings, or maybe a mix of high and ultra depending on your playstyle and installed content.
Also, congratulations, and I hope you find some time to sleep.
