[MAC] Computer slowed down even after deleting the game and app

I purchased The Sims 4, downloaded it onto my MacBook Pro and launched it, but it's really hard to control even the creating of a Sim (I literally spent an hour just trying to dress it because whenever I tried to click something, it closed all the dressing options).

Anyway, I was annoyed so I deleted it just hours after purchasing it and requested for a refund. I deleted both the game and the Origin app on Mac (from the Application Finder Folder, at least that's how I believe I should delete stuff from Mac) but then my computer started to get really slow. Normally it starts up within 1 minute, after the whole downloading and deleting, my computer takes like 4-5 minutes to start up, and after starting up and during running, it would just freezes for 5-10 seconds without routine. Like just in the minutes of typing this question my computer already froze for more than 10 times.

Can someone please help me out? What's wrong with my computer? Is it because something in it doesn't get along with the downloading and deleting of The Sims 4? Or was it because I haven't fulling deleted the game and the app?

Thanks everyone.

  • You may not have fully deleted Origin or the game from your computer. Here are instructions on how to reinstall Origin, except you would not reinstall Origin.

    - Make sure you are in Finder then click Go in the menu bar. Hold down Alt and the hidden Library folder will show up. Click on the Library folder.
    - You now need to check in the following folders for any Origin files and folders:
    Application Support (Origin)
    Caches (Origin, com.ea.Origin)
    Preferences (com.ea.Origin.plist)
    Saved Application state (com.ea.Origin.savedState)

Open a Finder window and click on your Macintosh HD in the left hand section under Devices (if it's not there click on Finder in the menu bar then Preferences. Select the Sidebar tab and make sure Hard Disks is ticked under Devices), open Library, then delete the Origin folder.

After you've trashed them, empty the trash then restart your Mac. Then redownload and reinstall Origin.

Also try repairing your permissions. You can find this:

Open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions - Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
