[MAC] Sims 4

I have purchased and downloaded Sims 4 for Mac overnight, now when I click the Install button, nothing happens... the game downloaded without issue, but would like to play it now!  I look forward to any answers that anyone may have :manfrustrated:

  • @Tobe2005 Are you getting an error ? Does it not say Play in Origin now ? Could you elaborate on the issue a bit.

I have also experienced this problem.

My wife purchased Sims4 (Mac version) for our daughter. I found it ridiculous that the seller (Amazon) did not clearly state that when buying the game for Macs, the discs they send you are of no use and that you have to join Origin, download the game, and play through Origin. The only part of the game they send you that you actually use is the 'unlocking code'. Beware that downloading the game takes up a lot of precious space on a hard drive.

Anyway, having gone through all of this and downloaded the game to my machine, at the point at which you choose your language from a drop down menu, the drop down menu was blank. I therefore had no option but to click 'accept', and was presented with an 'install' button which, when clicked, did nothing. I tried this whole operation twice, but the same things happened and we are still unable to play the game.

Am I doing something stupid? I cannot seem to find any help on the EA website. Why is this so complicated!

I hope someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

Try shutting down and restarting the computer. Restart up Origin and allow it to update. Make sure you have registered the code you obtained from Amazon before trying to download and install the game. It takes about a half an hour for Sims 4 base game to download and install.

If you are having trouble with Origin, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

    - Make sure you are in Finder then click Go in the menu bar. Hold down Alt and the hidden Library folder will show up. Click on the Library folder.
    - You now need to check in the following folders for any Origin files and folders:
    Application Support (Origin)
    Caches (Origin, com.ea.Origin)
    Preferences (com.ea.Origin.plist)
    Saved Application state (com.ea.Origin.savedState)

After you've trashed them, empty the trash then restart your Mac. Then redownload and reinstall Origin.

Open a Finder window and click on your Macintosh HD in the left hand section under Devices (if it's not there click on Finder in the menu bar then Preferences. Select the Sidebar tab and make sure Hard Disks is ticked under Devices), open Library, then delete the Origin folder.

Open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions - Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

Then restart, then redownload Origin and try. Make sure you don't have anything else open.

Thank you Tremayne4260. I followed all that and am still unable to install the game.

I've spent another age on forums and suspect it may be a Mac OS issue. I am running OS 10.6.8. I am unable to upgrade to Yosemite for various reasons.

Can anyone confirm that Yosemite is required for Sims 4 on Origin on a Mac.

    Many thanks

OS X Lion 10.7.5 is the minimum requirement for TS4, OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 is recommended. You are running OS X Snow Leopard so don't meet the minimum requirements, sorry ☹️

What are the full specs. of your Mac? Apple logo > About this Mac

You might be able to Bootcamp your Mac between Snow Leopard and Yosemite, unless your computer cannot run Yosemite.
