Missing Electronic Arts Folder.

Hi!!

So today i was messing around with cc on a flash drive because i ran out of storage on my laptop and without realising it, I think I removed my Electronic Arts folder when moving stuff back and forth to my flash drive.

I opened the game and all of my add ons were still there as theyre on my account but obviously none of my previous worlds were there. I tried to find other people with a similar problem, so i deleted Sims 4 and then loaded it back up on steam but still the folder didn't come back.

I've been cleaning out my rubbish bin all day to find storage so there's no chance it's in there.

I don't care about my previous worlds but I just want to know if it will affect my gameplay in anyway especially where cc is involved?

Thanks x

  • @LemonySnacket057 Hello,

I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions, as I am slightly confused about what you've done 🙂

    1. If your EA folder is missing, where is your "Mods" folder stored?
    2. If your EA folder is missing, where is your "Sims 4" folder stored?

If your EA folder is missing, than no, your game can't run. For Sims 4 to run, the "Sims 4" folder must be stored within the "EA" folder. Same with mods and cc. They must be stored within the "Mods" folder which is stored within the "Sims 4" folder which is stored within the "EA" folder.

I find it hard to believe that the folder has actually been deleted, maybe just misplaced? When you transfer stuff and mess around with your device's files, there is bound to be something that goes wrong, as they aren't built to be moved around a lot.
If you open Documents and can't find the EA folder, please make sure you're in the local version of Documents, not a secondary one located in OneDrive (or iCloud if you have a Mac).

If you are definitely in the local version of Documents, I have another method you could try.
You may be able to search for the EA folder by typing part of the name in the search box in the Documents library. Right-click the folder if it appears, and then select "Restore previous versions". You'll see a list of available previous versions of the folder.

My fingers are crossed (let me know how it goes!) xx 🙂
  • @LemonySnacket057  Here's how to find the folder:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

You may simply be looking in the wrong version of Documents now, for example the one in OneDrive when the game isn't using OneDrive, or vice versa.  Once you find the correct folder, it shouldn't move on you unless you mess with the location of Documents overall, or you let OneDrive start syncing your files when it isn't already.  So your custom content should stay put as well.

If you'd like help finding your saves, please download Everything, from VoidTools, which is a free and highly efficient search tool.  Open it and search for Slot_ (exactly like that), and post the results you see.
