Moved to external heard drive

Question

Hello,I recently moved my sims 4 folder to my external hard drive when than my mods/cc stopped working so I removed the files and uninstalled the sims 4 and downloaded it back. Once I did that the mods/cc is still not working. But now when I looked at the mods folder the resource file is not there. So I removed the mods folder and repaired the game. But now the mods folder did not reappear with the resource file. Can anyone help here? Thank you

@mnicole3  Mac or Windows?The game won't read the Sims 4 folder on an external drive unless you create a symbolic link. It will simply create a new empty one in the local storage on your machine because it doesn't look anywhere else for user data.The game installation location is nothing to do with where your Sims 4 folder is stored, it is completely separate and dictated by the chosen file path of the game library in Origin/EA App.

It is on Windows. How do I create a symbolic link if it won't read to a hard drive without one.
