Can anyone tell me a STEP-BY-STEP guide on moving the sims4 to an external SSD drive? I'm on a Windows 11 laptop and the SSD has TB storage if that's important to know!
I do have cc and mods but I've moved them to my desktop for now because I'm updating them. I've also already moved to the EA app.
In Origin rightclick the game and select Move. For the EA App you will need to uninstall the game and when reinstalling specify the new path. Remember to first create a folder where you like the game to be. For user files you would need to use a symbolic link which can cause problems if you ever by mistake start the game without the external drive being connected. Unless you are really strapped for space on your C: drive I do not recommend it. If you really want to let me know and I will post the steps.
You will be better off asking in Mac Tech.
I use a portable harddrive for installing basically all my games on, including Sims 4 and Sims 3.
I have just edited the download path in the different apps I use like EA App, Steam, GOG Galaxy etc..
The installation of the game is not the issue here but moving the user folder.
I know you posted this awhile ago but everytime I try and open the sims 4 it says "the app is already running" and I've tried resetting my laptop and it still isn't working.
Can you explain how you figured it out? I am having the same issue and using Windows 11
