My Game Is Broken!!!
Everytime my game hasn't worked,it's either been because of Mods or CC being broken,or just a glitch that's fixed itself. I have been playing the Sims 4 since 2022,and i've never experienced anything like this before. My game is constantly crashing at random times,it's completely unplayable. A couple days before the July 1st update,I switched between households in the same save file and it started crashing a little more than normal. Not terrible, but definitely annoying. A day before the update, I bought Home Chef Hustle, and started having a lot of crashing issues while trying to save in build mode. Now, after installing the update, the game cannot be played at all.I've repaired the game, removed all mods and cc,replaced the save file, and cleared the cache and restarted every time before opening the game.I have also tried playing in multiple new saves. It is prone to crashing at anytime, but the times it has crashed the most is being on the loading screen multiple times. It will crash everytime when trying to save in the middle of gameplay, trying to place a lot, and saving in build mode. I have loaded into CAS, made changes, and have been able to save. However, i tried to save my households to transfer them to a new save, and trying to load into multiple households in CAS made it crash as well. I love this game and the community so much, I don't want to not be able to play the game. I've always figured it out myself before, but after I realised it wasn't a mod or CC causing the issues and trying evrything I saw online, I'm desperate for help lol. If anyone has been through the same thing, I would love to know what your experience was like. Also, I would love to know if anyone else is currently having this problem so I know I'm not alone in experiencing this.Any help is greatly appreciated, but please be nice as I'm not very good with computers I just wanted to play the Sims 4 and wanted to be a part of the community. Thank you to anyone who reads this and can help.(:
ChristinaM1327 The immediate issue is that your computer's internal drive is almost completely out of free space. You had less than 1 GB free (out of 60) when you ran each dxdiag, and that's not enough for Windows itself to maneuver properly, let alone Windows plus a demanding game.
So please free up as much space as you can. 20 GB free would be a good goal, but I realize that might not be possible given the size of your drive. So do what you can and let me know how much space you have. If you can get to at least 10 GB, Sims 4 might start working again.
Interestingly, your first dxdiag said the graphics driver wasn't working correctly, but your second dxdiag did not. This kind of issue can be due to the lack of free space, directly or otherwise, and may come and go until you've cleared more space. A nonfunctional driver would certainly prevent Sims 4, or almost any game, from running properly.
Longer term, you may need to get an external drive to store your Sims 4 data, since the base game alone is over 20 GB now, and so is Windows. That doesn't leave much room for anything else even before you start adding saves or DLC. You'd see better performance with a relatively smaller solid state drive, say 256 GB, rather than a very large and slow mechanical drive, so keep that in mind if you go shopping.
Or you may decide that it's not worth spending more money on this laptop and that it's time to upgrade. That would obviously cost more than an external drive, but you could improve performance to a greater extent, provided the new laptop's hardware was more powerful than the old one's, of course.
