MY GAME IS GONE AFTER UPDATE

mahoganywood28​  Please do these steps in order:

Use the reg query command in the OneDrive-related thread I linked to confirm that your Documents directory is no longer in a OneDrive folder.  If it IS in a OneDrive folder, stop here.

Load the game once to make sure Sims 4 is also not reading a OneDrive folder, as described here.

If all is well, quit and move your saves to the Sims 4 folder the game is reading.  If they load, you're fine, there's nothing else to do.

If the saves do NOT load, please post a screenshot of the contents of the saves folder, as in, I'd like to see the file names and dates.  Include the address bar, above the list of files, in the screenshot.

Hello Puzzle Addict. Last night I got frustrated, so I moved my Electronic Arts folder out of ONE DRIVE, to a folder on my desktop. I just loaded the game, and it seems the game is still reading from ONE DRIVE. How do I get the game to go back to reading from my original documents folder as before? Also, how to I post my Save here, for you to have a look at them?

mahoganywood28​  I don't need to see a save of yours, at least not at this point.  The master thread I linked earlier covers how to get your game out of OneDrive:

You don't need to read all of it, just the "I don't want OneDrive to sync my files" or "I want to get rid of OneDrive" section, whichever you prefer.  Then open the game and see what folder it's reading.

If it's still looking in the OneDrive folder, use this method to change the location of the Documents directory, as Windows sees it:

Then check again to see whether the game is reading the location you've selected.  THEN you can move your saves to the new correct location, and if they're still not loading, we can try to fix that issue.

Okay I used the last method you posted, got to the personal folder which is my documents folder, from regedit, I followed the instructions from there, went into the shell folders, clicked on the personal folder, and the path seems to be showing my original path, not the ONE Drive folder. So now I'm even more confused about why the game is going to ONE DRIVE?

I forgot to add that even if I had seen ONE DRIVE there, there was no option to change it to default value. I have Windows 11. The path is showing C:username/Documents, One Drive isn't there. So how do I change to default?

mahoganywood28​  What location is Sims 4 currently reading, as in, what does the game say?

Also, I hope the file path is this:

C:\Users\your username\Documents

because there shouldn't be a [your username] folder directly on C; it should be inside Users.

I haven't ran my game today, so let me run the game to check.

Yes, that was the correct file path. So today, i got rid of the folder that was on ONE DRIVE, after a back up. After I read your message, I ran my game. I used another copy of the backup save file. When I got to the loading screen I checked to see where the file is. The path is C:\username\Document\ElectronicArts\TheSims4\saves\slot_00000003.save 

So it looks like the save file is back on the right path/in the right location now, but the problem is, I still don't see my households, or builds in the neighborhoods. It still shows default lots. So What do I do now?

So, I followed the instructions on the recover save option. I used the vero file, and clipped the .vero part of it off and then ran the game. Same thing happened. I still see the default neighborhood and none of the houses or community lots I built. I'm so bummed.

mahoganywood28​  Have you tried all the backups?  It sounds like this save may be corrupt, but perhaps an older version (not .ver0, that's the newest backup) might still be usable.  What you've described sounds like one of these known issues though:
