Solved

My game is lagging, unplayable

I tested it without mods and cc, and it's still lagging. Anyone else having this problem. It started happening after the latest update.

Thank you.

  • NeutrinaEditora  This site's spam filter has been overly aggressive at times, so perhaps your posts were caught and only found later.  Regardless, the dxdiag makes the issue clear: neither GPU is enabled, so your system is trying to render Sims 4 in software.  The unbearable lag is a predictable result.

It looks like the GPUs are disabled in the Device Manager, so you should be able to reenable them there.  Click Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, expand the Display adapters section, right-click the AMD entry, and select Enable.  Do the same for the Nvidia entry (AMD first, then Nvidia).  Restart afterwards and before trying to play.

If the game still runs poorly afterwards, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both graphics drivers, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

Use the newest drivers Acer provides for your laptop:

    https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/Nitro_AN17-41

You'll want the VGA Driver (UMA) dated 9/24 and the VGA Driver (RTX 4050) dated 3/7.  The proper order of operations here is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the AMD driver > restart > reinstall the AMD driver > restart > reinstall the Nvidia driver > restart, all while offline.

  • NeutrinaEditora  Does this happen in a new save too?  I'm not suggesting you abandon your current save, only that this is a useful test.

Please also provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

    Hi, puzzlezaddict

Thank you for your prompt response. Here's my DxDiag, I think I read a problem with the Nvidia, please let me know what you see. I started a new game and it is happening there too. I hope we can solve this together. And thank you again!

  • Hi, puzzlezaddict Thanks for the prompt response. I thought I had left a reply earlier, I don't know what happened, maybe I didn't log in. Anyways, I started a new game and it's still doing the same. Here's my DxDiag, I found some errors there, but to tell you the truth I had no idea what DxDiag was, so is all new to me. Do you think this problem has to do with updates on Window 11? Just a thought. Thank you for your help, I miss my sims and I will buy a new computer if I have to. Let me know what you see and thank you so much for your help!

  • Hi, , thank you for your prompt response puzzlezaddict! This is the third time I have replied to this message, but somehow they don't stick, when I come back I don't see mine, only your reply. I don't know what's happening, maybe they will be three of my responses tomorrow or I will have to send you a direct message?

Well, here goes again: I started a new game, the same thing is happening. This is my third time trying to send my dxdiag, I had no idea what that was but now I see an Nvidia error? Please let me know what you see, I hope we can fix this together. Do you think this has to do with Windows 11 updates, just a thought. Thank you again, I hope we can fix this together, if this reply ever gets to you, I am sorry if it's a lag problem and you are getting all of these messages, I really don't know what to do.
