My game is lagging

@swcheppes  Please move your entire Sims 4 game folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  Launch the game, which will create a clean folder with no content.  Don't add anything to it yet, just see how the game runs.  If it works better than before, the issue is something in your old game folder.  It's not likely screenshots, or saves you're not playing, or anything like that; but it could be your current save, or that some of your custom content is now outdated.

If the game still lags in the clean folder, please attach the entire dxdiag to a post.  You can upload the whole thing as a .txt file.

I tried what you suggested.  The load screens still too extra long and the movement/camera was still laggy.  However the sims actions seemed better and not stuck.

I've attached the txt file with the full dxdiag.

@swcheppes  Try playing with no internet connection at all, as in, disable wifi and/or disconnect your laptop from the internet.  You can sign into Origin first, put it in offline mode, then take your laptop offline before launching the game.

I tried this.  At first it seemed to have worked, but after about 1 sim day it started lagging and the sims actions were once again delayed.  I've tried it a few more times, playing other saves and still no difference ☹️

@swcheppes  Are you still playing your existing saves?  If so, please test a new save in another completely clean folder, with absolutely nothing added to it.  Again, play while your computer is offline.  While you're at it, disable your antivirus/firewall during the test.  Since you won't be online, your computer shouldn't be at risk.

If you still get lag, please run a couple of checks on your Windows system files.  Here's how:

• Hit Windows key-X
• Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
• Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
• The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
• After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
• Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
• Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
• Post the message you receive here

If sfc found corrupt files and was unable to repair some of them, stop here.  Otherwise, test again, also a new save in a clean folder while playing offline with your antivirus/firewall disabled.

I will try all this,thanks. But I want to be able to play my existing saves.  After I try playing new game will that then fix the lag on my existing saves?

I just tried the command prompt and this error occurred.

Error: 740

Elevated permissions are required to run DISM.
Use an elevated command prompt to complete these tasks.

This is a known issue by EA, if you go to the known issues thread on this forum you will see a lot of people with the exact same problem, however sims devs cant "Replicate" The issue.

@swcheppes  The DISM error means you chose the regular version of CommandPrompt or PowerShell.  Be sure to pick the one that has the word "admin" in it.

The question about how a new save runs is meant to distinguish between issues with your user data, including your existing saves, and system issues.  If a new save lags, it's a system issue.  If a new save is fine, there's something about your older saves that's causing lag.  There are ways to troubleshoot each, but they're totally different, which is why it's important to test a new save.

After doing it under admin this was the message I got,
