My Sim lags for 3 seconds and then moves on

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.48.94.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Vampires
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Look for the game lag
What happens when the bug occurs? The sim would do a task from me or own its own and the game will freeze for a few seconds up to 5 sometimes and then go on
What do you expect to see? after the freeze it continues like normal until about 10 min
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I would just play my game like normal, and then it would freeze for a bit and then continue to play, I have med graphics set, windowed mode, and unchecked online and also turned off Origin access in game.

  • Hi @SSBCricket

I moved your post to the tech section for troubleshooting

There is this known issue with lags: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/WORK-IN-PROGRESS-Autonomy-and-Simulation-Lag/m-p/6918287#M81690 but yours sounds a bit different.

Your specs look fine so few questions

    - Does this happen on any lot ?

    - Do you also have lags in a fresh save for testing purposes ?

    - How big is the house/household you're playing ?

    - Do you have any other programs running in the back ?

  • I tried different lots, same result

I have done fresh saves for testing and it lags too

The house is small and so is the lot

I do have firefox running in the background

    Hi @SSBCricket

could you check if it runs any better if you turn off firefox while you play ? Also any other programs that might be running in your tray that you don't really need.

Tried it without firefox running and any other application going, it still does it. More of a time skip when it unfreezes ( I paid better attention to the result). So it freezes in place then when it resumes it skips ahead if I queue up an action.

@SSBCricket   I think your monitor only has vga input. I see you could borrow a monitor with HDMI or DVI inputs. I think your video card has those outputs. Vga (or analog) (I think your probably using an adapter on a DVI output on the video card). You might have a bottleneck. The fastest way to check is to try a monitor with newer technologies.

The only thing i can think of is the monitor, I've done all the above and it is still freezing for a bit and then skips to the point of the task I gave my sim.

Could you maybe record a video of what you're seeing and post ?
