It can be caused by outdated mods or CC if you have any. Most scripts mods and a lot of CC after the last patch are no longer compatible with the game.
1. Move the mods folder to the desktop.
2. Find and delete localthumbcache.package file in the game folder. Delete also all folders with the word "cache" in the name.
3 Fix the game in Origin
right-click on TS4 select the option "repair game"
4. Turn on the game to create a new, empty mods folder and check if the game is working now properly without mods
5. Check if there are new updated versions of the mods and CC you are using. (UIC and MCC there are new versions.)
Then copy from desktop your mods and CC and paste it in the new mods folder. First, paste script mods one by one every time checking if the game is OK.
Do the same with CC but if you have a lot of this, try the 50/50 method. divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)

If you don't have mods and CC or if it will not work try doing a factory reset as described in this post:
https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2014/09/resetting-the-game-to-factory-settings-without-reinstalling/
I don't work for EA I’ve tried everything that you told me but it’s really weird because it doesn’t quite the game when I have no CC but it’s only with this sim and lot in particular because I’ve tried to play with an other sim on an other household and it works perfectly... I don’t get it
An other household with CC*

Apparently in this household, you have used CC that is broken. It could be something that has a sim or some object in this house. It can even be wallpaper on the wall. OMG ME TOO! Ive done and tried EVERYTHING. 💔
- CircuitD6 years agoSeasoned Veteran@kreatora So what is the problem if I don’t have any cc? The only mods I have are MCCC which I downloaded recently (so it’s up to date) and it’s supposed to help the game run smoothly. What is crashing it?

Go to the Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sim 4
Path to this folder in Windows: This computer > Drive C > Users > Name of your computer > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims4
Move the whole The Sims4 folder to the desktop.
(Don't touch another TS4 folder that is in the Program Files (x86) > Origin games. This is an installation folder and shouldn't be touched)
Then try to launch the game. The new game folder will be created and you will have two. One in the Documents and second, the old one on the desktop.
Play by five minutes and quit.
Delete in the new game folder following folders: Save and Tray
Copy from your desktop folder Saves and paste in the new game folder.
Do the same with the Tray folder - it is your library. If you have in old TS4 folder the file TrayDeleteItems paste it in the new game folder also.
Now launch the game and check if you still have this problem.
Your saves and library will not changes.
